So as I mentioned, I have set a goal to post in my blog each day in addition to working on my NaNoWriMo novel. I should admit here that even though my favorite way to NaNoWriMo is to write a full first draft, I am actually going “rogue” this month to spend time both on fresh drafts and some much needed revision and rearranging. Right now, I have many fragments of drafts that add up to the bones of four (short) novels.
So most of my writing time today went to getting my bearings. My series is set in a not-too-distant future when Earth has formed economic relationships with a coalition of alien species. So in addition to juggling plot fragments and multiple characters, I need to make sense of notes on (and gaps in) world-building.
I’m going to see if a timeline app I have will help me get it sorted out (Aeon, if you’re curious). I’ve only used it a few times, but I think this project may be when I find it most helpful.
I am excited to get back to work on this series—the last time I worked on it was last November when I drafted one of the books. But I am also feeling more rusty than I expected, so it may take me a few days to get rolling. That’s okay. I have to start somewhere.
